Dalton Police Department to Host MATEN II Roadcheck

The Dalton Police Department will host a MATEN II road check on December 21st, 2006 within the city limits.  The exact location will be announced at a later date.  Officers from the Special Operations Unit and the Situational Response Unit will work in conjunction with other law enforcement officers form agencies in the northwest corner of the state, which make up the Mountain Area Traffic Enforcement Network II.  MATEN II is one of 15 different networks across the state of Georgia, that meet monthly for a network meeting and to conduct a road check.

During the road check, officers will be checking motorist for such things as proper driver's license, compliance with Georgia's Safety Belt Law, proper insurance, proper vehicle registration and drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

In addition to the MATEN II road check, the Dalton Police Department will be holding several other road checks from now until the end of the year.

The department would like to remind motorist to watch their speed, obey Georgia's Safety Belt laws and drive defensively, especially during the Holiday Season.
