The Dalton Police Department has begun a strategic redeployment of personnel to address crime "hot spots" in the city. The redeployment focuses on specific times and locations based on data gained from crime analysis.
This analysis has shown an increase in the occurrences of vandalism, thefts, and other crimes in areas of the city. In addition, the police department is making a concerted effort to assure citizens who may feel an increased concern of becoming a victim of crime. In addition, the police department will increase the use of road checks targeting DUI offenders. The department has, and will continue to, address those individuals who engage in unlawful, dangerous behavior.
The redeployment will involve adjustment of work schedules, and the allocation of funds for overtime and other enforcement operations. All of these steps can be considered a temporary fix to the issues that have been identified.
The police department is asking for help from the community to identify and remove criminal activity from neighborhoods. Concerned citizens may contact the department at 706-278-9085, or through the city website at www.cityofdalton-ga.gov/police. Citizens may also provide confidential information by calling the CRIMETIP HOTLINE at 706-278-9085, extension 201.
