National Night Out - Educating the Public on Crime Prevention

Police Departments across the nation are hosting National Night Out events throughout this week.  The Dalton Police Department held its community event this past Friday night with food, fun, and crime prevention material for adults and kids.  Detective Mack Flood and the crime scene truck was a big hit and the kids had a great time eating and playing on the inflatable obstacle course.

The purpose of National Night Out is to:

  • Heighten crime, drug and violence prevention awareness
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back

Officers were present to answer any questions and it was a good time for the citizens to meet the officers of the Dalton Police Department.  The Department's volunteers were present to assist and as always proved a valuable asset to the event.  There were several pictures taken by one of the volunteers and they will be posted in the next few days.
