The Dalton Police Department's National Night Out Public Safety Fair was a big success on Tuesday night, drawing an estimated crowd of 300-350 people to the North Georgia Fairgrounds on a hot August night.
Crowds lined up for a ride on Fatal Vision, the Dalton Police Department's drunk driving awareness program. And, they also gathered to watch the Fire Department demonstrate a live vehicle rescue, using the jaws of life to cut up a pair of cars donated by Frank's Auto and Wrecker Service. Outback Steakhouse was on hand with free hot dogs, and visitors left with armloads of crime prevention and safety handouts. Children also got to play in three inflatable moonwalks.
