More than 400 police officers and firefighters from agencies across Georgia will be coming to Dalton next week for the 2012 Georgia Police and Fire Games. The games will take place at various sites around Dalton and Whitfield County starting Monday, June 18th and running through Saturday, June 23rd. Admission to the various games is free and members of the public are welcome to come cheer on officers and firefighters at events.
Police officers and firefighters will compete as individuals or in teams in various events such as softball, golf, weight lifting, cycling, a 5K race and others. There are also “toughest cop” and “toughest firefighter” competitions which will consist of obstacle courses designed with different law enforcement or firefighting activities.
Events are being coordinated by the Dalton Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Dalton Parks and Recreation Department, and also representatives from the Dalton Police and Fire Departments.
