The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help with identifying a suspect who used a stolen credit card number to rack up more than $19,000 in fraudulent charges in Kentucky and Georgia. Because the suspect appears to have been traveling south, investigators think she may be headed towards the Atlanta area and they hope someone may recognize her from the surveillance image attached with this release.
The victim in this case lives in Lovettsville, Virginia. On September 20th and 21st, his credit card information was somehow compromised. Investigators aren’t sure how his account number was stolen, because he still had the card in his possession. However, during that time more than $19,000 in charges were rung up in various locations around Kentucky and also in Dalton, Georgia. In the Kentucky incidents, the card number was used mostly to purchase gift cards from various locations. In Dalton, the card was used to purchase food at the Walnut Avenue McDonald’s and also to purchase gas at the RaceTrac gas station at approximately 5:00 am. Surveillance images from Dalton and also Kentucky confirmed that the same suspect was using the fake card in both locations.
The suspect is a white female, possibly in her 20’s or early 30’s with blonde hair. In Dalton, she wore a yellow jogging suit and purple shoes with a light blue purse.
Anyone with information on the identity of this woman is asked to please contact Detective John Helton with the Dalton Police Department at 706-278-9085, extension 143.
